Charles Laurie McCawley (b. Aug. 24, 1865, Boston, Massachusetts-d. April 29, 1935), Brigadier General, Quartermaster, U.S. Marine Corps, a college graduate, began his military career as a Captain in the Marines in 1897. He saw action in Cuba, the Philippines, and was later assigned to Marine Corps headquarters including duty with the President from 1902 to 1910. Clarence Ransom Edwards (b. Jan. 1, 1860, Cleveland, Ohio-d. Feb. 14, 1931), U.S. Army officer, graduated from West Point in 1883. He served in the Philippines, commanded the 6th Brigade, 2nd Division in Hawaii, and commanded troops in the Panama Canal Zone from 1915 to 1917. He organized the 26th Division and spent ten months commanding it on the front lines in France in 1917 and 1918. John Henry Sherburne (b. Jan. 29, 1877, Boston, Mass.-d. July 25, 1959), Brigadier General in the U.S. Army, was a Harvard graduate who also earned his law degree in 1901. He served with the Massachusetts Field Artillery on the Mexican border and with the American Expeditionary Force from 1917 to 1919.
